"Words cannot express how I felt when I opened the box from ‘Lisa’s Army.’ I am humbled by your generosity. This has been a trying time and I know all of you have supported “D” in any way you can, and for that I am so appreciative. I am lucky to have a wonderful husband, and we are blessed by him being surrounded with such wonderful and caring colleagues. "I was just presented with one of Lisa’s gift bags. I was so overwhelmed I immediately started crying. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer when my first born son “J”, was only 3 weeks old. This has by far been one of the hardest news my family and I has been faced with. I watched the video on your site and me and Lisa are so much alike. I’m so concerned with caring for my family and helping them get through this difficult time. I don’t like to see anyone suffer and I always have to find a way to “fix” the issue and make them feel better. I told my husband that I am glad it’s happening to me and not him or my sisters because I do not know how I would be able to deal with it because I cant “fix” it. I’m ok with taking all the bad because I’m strong enough to fight it. I’d suffer before I let them suffer. Everything is happening so quickly I haven’t even fully registered that this is actually happening to me. I want to thank you for everything you are doing. This package and story behind it, is so inspiring, and your touching so many lives. I’m a special education teacher and all I’ve ever wanted to do was be able to make a difference in my students and in the world. "I recently received one of your beautiful comfort care packages. I want to say that all the contents were very comforting and useful. The items you enclosed were most helpful and things most people would not think of choosing. From the eyebrow pencil to the water bottle to the hard candy to card which had Lisa’s drawing on it……all items which I use or will use. The iPad is probably one of the most fabulous gifts I have ever received and I enjoy it daily. As you can see, I am writing to you on it. It has made communicating easier for me as I do not have to pull out my laptop, connect to service and wait for it to load!!! I admire you and your family for the way in which you honor Lisa’s memory and wishes through this outreach. This was both appreciated and humbling to receive. I plan to pay it forward.
